This is my over-Skype reaction of joy to Dan’s new ringtone, which is a weird mashup born from our strange rad senses of humor.

A couple months back, Dan, still in Germany, sent me an email recounting a particularly good (albeit random) run of songs on his favorite Berlin radio station. First Toto’s “Hold The Line,” then Dylan’s “Times They Are A-Changin’” and ending with an unfamiliar doo-wop track attempting a ‘50’s vibe but with an unmistakable early 90’s sheen. Dan said if I ever got Northern Michigan radio to duplicate this playlist of tunes he’d be a happy dude. I said why let all that awesome be spread out over 3 different songs…JUST COMBINE THEM.

So, I did that, and mixed them all together to create what Dan described as “the soundtrack to my dystopian nightmare.”

This is the track. FYI, for the third song in the mashup, the “50’s doowop via 90’s production,” my mind immediately went to this musical gem.
